Press Conference - August 14, 2002

Jennifer was last seen Mother’s day evening, May 12, 2002.

Her Jeep Wrangler was found behind Lake Bonham May 13th.

Jennifer’s body was found by a fisherman in the Red River May 18th.

The Oklahoma Medical Examiners Office (M.E.) released a long and detailed report August 12th ruling it a “violent homicide”. As far as we know, the report gives the investigators much to work with.

The Fannin County Sheriff’s Office has considered this a homicide from the start and has several leads they are working on. With the M.E.’s report out, the family is confident that the investigation will proceed at a rapid pace, and a possible arrest made in the next 30 days. Lt. McClellan stated that “no stone will be left un-turned, and all resources are being used.”

There’s a killer in North Texas that needs to be brought to justice. The family is asking for the maximum penalty under the law when this goes to trial. An exception to this will be made in case of a confession prior to, or at the time of arrest.

A reward is being offered in the amount of $10,000 for the first person offering information leading to the arrest and conviction of Jennifer’s murderer.

A trust account has been opened at the Bonham State Bank named “The Jennifer L. Harris Reward Fund” to receive contributions towards the reward money offered. If for any reason the collected monies do not get paid for information leading to a conviction, it will be donated to the Fannin County Sheriff’s Investigation Fund. Either way the citizens of North Texas receive a benefit. Contact Bonham State Bank, 502 N. Center Street, Bonham, Texas 75418 (903)583-2163.
